Me being productive.

Maya background concept. This will be drawn onto but I figured it'd help me in terms of perspective and lighting/shading.

And here's some color ideas as well as some very basic background sketch. Not my best but I figured I'd show it primarily for colors.

Aaand Animation Spam!

Now that I know how to embed videos...

Have some of my animations!

This is part of an Exquisite Corpse project in my Experimental animation class, where we had to take our animation and transform it into the first frame of another person's animation, thus creating a loop of awesome.

Sand animation. It was really just whatever came to mind and it was very therapeutic. No story or bases to tie myself down to in this, just things.

This is a found objects project, where I decided to use a theme of faces and chaos.

This is part of my final animation for Tech II. This has been altered since shooting, but over all I'm pleased with this little test. This animation I am taking to final color and hopefully with cels.

Fox and Wolf

This is a short film based on a short story I wrote 3 years ago about a tricking fox that gets out-tricked. The film is pretty much just the beginning and ending of my story slapped together to keep it short and under a minute.

Why in German? I thought it would give it a more folk-ish feeling if I had my friend recite it in German.

Assignment Seven

Vehicle Assignment

This assignment was very tricky, as we had to create a vehicle and character(s) that correspond. (And I normally never draw or design vehicles of any kind.)

My initial idea came rather quickly as I was sketching random cars and one I added wings to. This gave me the idea of using the Greek god, Hermes, in some way as well as giving him a vehicle. However, I needed to look up more on Hermes.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hermes

http://www.greekmedicine.net/mythology/hermes.html

I decided to use the Roman-ized name, Mercury for my character, as the name has less of a "known" characterization, allowing me some flexibility.

Next, I asked myself "What if the Greek gods lived in our time and age with our technology?"
After that I decided Mercury would be best suited with a motorcycle.

Ideation:

Mercury:

Mercury is a busybody who must know what is going on and with whom. He travels between cliques and groups, friendly with anyone to get the latest information on his fellow gods and goddesses. His thirst for knowledge has led him to become the line between groups as a form of communication.

However, Mercury doesn't mind much. He enjoys traveling at high speeds throughout the clouds that shroud Mt. Olympus. He rides a modified motorcycle, affectionately named QuickSilver, that allows him to travel the clouds without fear of falling. Two translucent "wings" attached to the sides of QuickSilver possess the ability of flight. Mercury's love of speed however can have consequence, for if he travels too fast, he'll break through the clouds that hide him from the mortal world below.

QuickSilver:

QuickSilver is Mercury's altered motorcycle. Large golden wings give the motorcycle the ability to fly. It is meant for speed and has a build of a racing motorcycle. The shield at the front is curved in a manner to not disrupt airflow and thus eliminating some wind resistance.

Assignment Six

Costume/Age Change

For our sixth assignment we were to choose a super hero or villain and to change their age to younger or older and give them a completely different costume design.

I went for V from the comic and movie, V for Vendetta.

Firstly, I looked up some images from the comic book, as I wanted to use that version of V.

I did a few basic sketches to decide if he should be older or younger. Ultimately I decided on an older, insane...er V.

And viola!

V, Action Pose:

We also we were required turnarounds for our outfit changes.

Outfits:

The Englishman outfit I needed some reference for:

Remember kiddies,

Ideas are bulletproof.

**Updated From Assignment Four**

After the critique on my fourth assignment I went back and fixed some things to improve it! :D

Updated Montgomery and Yek:

My main changes were Montogomery's expression, Yek's fur and feet colors, and the background's colors to make the cool colors of the characters pop more.

Assignment Five

The Assignment:
For our next assignment we were asked to go to the 7th Sanctum Website and use one of their generators to give a prompt for a character, as well as use an assigned video game style. I used the Fantasy Cross-bread generator and out of many times of refreshing the page, I finally chose this:

"The unwise female half-Ki-Rin tomb robber who is prone to odd statements. She appears far more non-human than human."

I was assigned Jak & Daxter as my style to replicate.

The Research:

Of course the first thing I did was google what Ki-Rins look like. What I found is that they look like a goat or horse mixed with a dragon.

Next was looking up some images and information about the game Jak & Daxter:

Wikipedia didn't give much information in terms of storyline for me to fit my character, so I asked many people who have played the game themselves how to best fit her in story-wise. I found out that Jak collects things called Power Cells, and these became my main objective in giving my character a background. Power cells and side quests.

The Character:

Not much ideation was used in creating my character's final design, as once I finished my research I had a solid idea set.

Kalik

Kalik was designed to have a small role in the Jak and Daxter games as a side NPC that has the player go and retrieve treasures for her in return for power cells. Additional background information on her:

She is from a small clan of centaur-like Ki-Rins, where her people thrive on customs and ancient ways. This influence caused her to explore the customs of other peoples... Usually by invading their graves to find interesting things. She collects artifacts of other cultures in hopes to improve her knowledge of others.
